Essential Skills In Rail Labour

This course is designed to allow you to work as a rail labour in the rail corridor Danger Zone conducting track work / rail labourer tasks and activities under the supervision of a Worksite Supervisor / Track Maintainer.  

The Rail Industry Worker National Track and Civil Matrix has designated that rail labourers need to hold these units to undertake a Rail Labourer Job Role in the Rail Corridor.

Entry Requirements Section (Website)

In alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:
  • A valid Category 3 or 1 Rail Medical assessment
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor

  • Pathway to Track Work and Infrastructure Roles.
  • Pathway to Qualifications including but not limited to TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure

Delivery Mode Section (Website)

This course is delivered through three days of classroom-based learning and includes knowledge assessments and practical observations in a simulated environment to evaluate both theoretical understanding and hands-on competence.

  • Knowledge assessments: Written tests to evaluate participants' understanding of the course material.
  • Practical observation assessments: Hands-on activities where participants demonstrate their skills in a controlled environment.
