NSW Smart and Skilled
Smart and Skilled is a NSW Government program that provides eligible students with access to government-subsidised training. This initiative aims to help individuals gain the skills needed for employment and career advancement.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be at least 15 years old
- No longer be in secondary school
- Live or work in NSW
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
- have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)

- Fee-Free Training: Available for eligible students undertaking Certificate I to Certificate IV courses, apprenticeships, and traineeships.
- Concession Fees: Reduced fees for students receiving Centrelink benefits.
- Standard Fees: Apply to students who do not qualify for fee-free training or concessions.

The Priority Industry Training (PIT) program focuses on making available a range of qualifications that address priority industry needs of the State through a non employment-based training pathway.
This program is available to existing workers. The qualifications offered may be delivered in any region throughout WA for both target groups.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be an Australian citizen, or
- Hold one of the approved visa subclasses:
- Subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, or 820
- Secondary holders of a temporary visa: subclass 457 or 482
- Bridging Visa E holders (subclasses 050 or 051) with a valid application for subclass 785 or 790
- Ukrainian citizens holding visa subclass 449 or 786
- Afghan citizens holding visa subclass 449
- Bridging visa holders eligible to work with a valid application for subclass 866
Must be a resident of Western Australia
Must not have an active apprenticeship or traineeship training contract registered on WAAMS
