Effective communication is essential for safety and coordination across the Queensland Rail network. The QR Communications course provides the skills and knowledge required to understand and operate within QR’s approved communication protocols in rail environments.

This is a mandatory course for anyone required to communicate with the Network Control Officer while working in the rail corridor or undertaking protection officer duties.

In alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:

  • A valid Category 3 or 1 Rail Medical assessment
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor

This course is delivered through one day of classroom-based learning and includes knowledge assessments and practical observations in a simulated environment to evaluate both theoretical understanding and hands-on competence.

  • Knowledge assessments: Written tests to evaluate participants' understanding of the course material.
  • Practical observation assessments: Hands-on activities where participants demonstrate their skills in a controlled environment.
