This course is aligned with Queensland Rail’s Network Rules and Procedures MD-12-189 and is designed to ensure learners maintain the skills and knowledge for safely accessing and navigating the rail corridor and danger zones.

You’ll learn to safely enter and navigate the rail corridor with access provider authorisation, follow policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain situational awareness and rail safety and workplace procedures and access and interpret track protection information.

Safely Access the Rail Corridor

There are no formal entry requirements, however in alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:

 

  • A valid Category 3 or 1 Rail Medical assessment
  • A Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
  • A current QR3.2 SARC Certification
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Completing the QR3.2 Safely access the rail corridor recertification course can support further development and career progression within the rail industry.

  • Pathway to Track Infrastructure, Protection or Worksite Safety Roles.
  • Pathway to Qualifications including but not limited to TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure or TLI21921 Certificate II in Track Protection

This course is delivered through one day of classroom-based learning and includes knowledge assessments and practical observations in a simulated environment to evaluate both theoretical understanding and hands-on competence.

  • Knowledge assessments: Written tests to evaluate participants' understanding of the course material.
  • Practical observation assessments: Hands-on activities where participants demonstrate their skills in a controlled environment.
