The ARTC NSW Safeworking Level 1 course is designed for individuals who already hold foundational rail safety qualifications and are seeking to progress into safeworking roles with greater responsibility. This course develops the competencies required to perform Level 1 safeworking duties, including operating groundframes, signalling equipment at unattended locations and special proceed authorities, in accordance with ARTC NSW Network Rules and Procedures. Participants will enhance their ability to manage safety in live rail environments, support worksite protection arrangements, and communicate effectively with other safeworking personnel and Network Control.Units of Competency

In alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:- A valid Category 1 Rail Medical assessment
- CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
- TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor
- TLIF0027 Perform lookout duties
- TLIF2082 Perform handsignaller duties
- TLIC0025 Pilot rail traffic within work on track authority limits
- TLIW0007 Operate under track protection rules

This course is delivered through four days of classroom-based learning and includes knowledge assessments, an in-field logbook, and practical observations to evaluate both theoretical understanding and hands-on competence.
