Rail Safety Starts With You

The ARTC Non-Technical Skills Program helps to ensure everyone undertaking protection work is capable to confidently apply and execute the ARTC approach for protection. The core purpose of the course is to focus on “how” protection is applied and enhances the participants Non-Technical Skills and increases their awareness and confidence in delivering protection to the safest possible level. 

The Non-Technical Skills Program is mandatory for:

      • All ARTC Protection Officers 1-4, Track Force Protection Coordinators 1-3, Track Workers 1-4.
      • All approved ARTC safeworking contractors who have active Protection Officers 1-4, Track Force Protection Coordinators 1-3 and Track Workers 1-4 who work on the ARTC network.

You must complete the required pre-learning on ARTC’s online training portal prior to undertaking this program, including:

  • Non-Technical Skills e-learning
  • Network Communications Standards e-learning

This course is delivered through one day of classroom-based learning.

To successfully complete the Non-Technical Skills Program, the trainer will need to provide each participant with a rating of 3 or more against each Non-Technical Skills Criterion.

Any rating less than 3, will require additional coaching from the trainer and the employer until the participant is able to demonstrate capability at a level 3 or more.

Reaccreditation: Reaccreditation will occur as part of the recertification process for Protection Officers, Track Force Protection Coordinators and Track Workers.
