The ARTC CoP Track Worker Level 2 course equips participants with the advanced skills, knowledge, and confidence required to work safely on or near the rail network. Aligned with the ARTC Code of Practice (CoP), the course ensures compliance with industry safety standards while focusing on the technical aspects of track work and the critical safety measures needed to protect workers, infrastructure, and the rail environment.

Participants will gain the practical skills to:

  • Pilot rail traffic into, within, and out of a possession area

  • Implement Train Running Information (TRI) – Worksite Only

  • Implement a Track Occupancy Authority (TOA)

  • Use an Infrastructure Booking Advice (IBA)

Entry Requirements Section

In alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:
  • A valid Category 1 Rail Medical assessment
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry 
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor
  • TLIF0027 Perform lookout duties
  • TLIF2082 Perform handsignaller duties
  • TLIW0007 Operate under track protection rules
  • TLIF2097 Use audible track warning devices
  • TLIF0023 Conduct track protection assessment
  • TLIW2037 Clip and secure points
  • ARTC CoP Handsignaller 
  • ARTC CoP Track Worker Level 1
  • ARTC Implement No Authority Required (NAR)

  • Pilot rail traffic into, within, and out of a possession area: Safely pilot rail traffic within and out of possession areas.
  • Implement Train Running Information (TRI) Worksite Only: Manage and communicate TRI for worksite operations.
  • Implement Track Occupancy Authority (TOA): Apply TOA procedures to secure tracks for work.
    Use an Infrastructure Booking Advice (IBA): Complete and utilise IBA to coordinate track access.
